Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC) National Registry of Appraisers -
This Federal Agency oversees the regulation of real property appraisers. Queries for information available on this registry of State Licensed and Certified Appraisers would include the ability to search for an appraiser by name, provide lists of appraisers in specific jurisdictions, or a listing of appraisers who have had certifications or licenses suspended or revoked. The website also contains information about the Appraisal Subcommittee and lists many appraisal related website links. http://www.asc.gov

The Appraisal Foundation -
Interested parties can log onto www.appraisalfoundation.org to comment on exposure drafts, order publications and other services, correspond with the Foundation Standards and Qualifications Boards and staff, and receive other association and state regulatory board information. Federal Trade Commission -
Consumer protection regulations in their entirety. These include the recent Gramm/Leach/Bliley Act which focuses on the protection of information provided by consumers involved in financial activities "found to be closely related to banking or usual in connection with the transaction of banking." These activities have been deemed to include "appraising real or personal property" (Quotations are from the Federal Trade Commission, Privacy of Consumer Financial Information; Final Rule, 16 CFR Part 313). Proposed text for the 2002 USPAP by the ASB in the Confidentiality section of the Ethics Rule states An appraiser must be aware of, and comply with, all confidentiality and privacy laws and regulations applicable in an assignment .Familiarize yourself with this and other new laws to avoid potential liability. http://www.ftc.gov

MRIS (Maryland Regional Information System) -
Comprehensive Multiple List and public record database system for Maryland and surrounding states. www.mris.com is the public web address for non- members. Non-members are able to join on-line from this site if they so desire. Once connected, members may access the private intranet site of MRIS by typing only mris.com in the Location box at the top of the screen. An authorization box will appear. Type in your subscriber number (it may say subscriber name, but your number is what is needed) and password, just as you would normally log on to MRIS and you will be transferred into the database.

Fannie Mae revised 2005 forms and related information- 
A complete copy of Guide Announcement 05-02 (.pdf) is available for viewing and downloading, as well as the 11 revised report forms by visiting their Selling and Servicing Forms page at www.efanniemae.com , click on Single-Family Quick Access, then select Forms. The 11 revised forms include:

A must for appraisers of manufactured homes. Environmental Websites:
Hazardous sites in your area? Need to find them? Check out these internet addresses to find those sites that can affect your real estate appraisal. Although it will not take the place of an environmental site assessment, you can get instant access to the federal database of site locations of hazardous sites and areas. Just enter a zip code or codes and a list will be generated for you. Remember, the minimum disclosure for a site assessment is a one mile radius, not the zip code, so multiple zip codes may have to be investigated.

US Geological Survey -
Maps, aerial photo's, topographical maps, flood plains, etc.  (You can look at hundreds of available publications and order on-line) OR http://www.usgs.gov/ for the USGS publications of USA maps. Lots of free info is also available by fax at 800-USA-MAPS.

Environmental Health Information -
